Bolt Action V3 Army list for Assault on Bardia

For some reason last night I could not sleep and started thinking about Bolt Action with it's V3 rules that just came out.

I love the new way to build an army list, no longer stuck as being a reinforced infantry platoon with attachments!

So here's my revised army list for the 6th Australian Division's assault on Bardia in '41. I had a great uncle who was there as a combat engineer and went to Greece, back to Australia via Ceylon and went on to fight the Japanese in the Pacific. I don't recall ever meeting him before he died in the '80s.

The company is made up of 2 infantry platoons - one rifle platoon with 2 sections (one with LMG) and it's supporting elements of medic/sniper/AT team/2" Light mortar, and a Engineer platoon of 2 small squads, command section and 3 Bren Gun Carriers (one with a Boys AT rifle and the command carrier with a pintle Bren gun AA LMG).

The company commander is a veteran, a returning solider from WW1, but the other platoon commanders are inexperienced 2nd Lt's never having seen combat before (or have replaced causalities). The men however have spent months being trained in the desert.

Supporting them is a heavy weapons platoon of a medium 3" mortar and Vickers MMG from the 1st Northumberland Fusiliers Machine Gunners, and a 25 pounder from the 2/1st Field Regiment with it's truck to move about as needed.

There is also an artillery spotter to call in support and spotters for the artillery and mortar's.  The medic is so I can cry out MEDIC when someone gets hit within 6" of him. I guess the 2 stretcher bearers were already sent to the rear with casualties.

Technically the rifle platoons should probably be in the Ben Gun Carriers and the engineers on foot, but I'm going to say it's on day 2 of the attack and the main defence line has been broken, with the engineers being held in reserve until enemy fortification's or tanks are spotted.  They are my assault and flanking element while the rifle platoon acts as the base of fire with it's supporting units, and the company commander will probably be with them in the engineers platoon commander's carrier.

I can't afford a Matilda II at 1100 points which for reasons is the default Australian Tournament points list, otherwise I'd add that. It would be more appropriate than an attached single 25 pounder but I can't afford it and a 2 pounder AT gun isn't as good. I suspect the maneuver element of only 2 squads and 2 light open topped APC's isn't enough for an assault and it really needs a tank attached, but I would see how it goes first.

I will have a problem with enemy tanks, late war ones with heavy armour I can't even hurt from front and hardly at all from the side. The good news, I don't have any tanks for the enemy to use their late war AT guns and weapons on either! It's not like the Bren Gun Carriers can't be shot at by, everything, already.  My only AA gun is a a pintle-mounted Bren gun in in one of the carriers.

I am vastly disappointed I cannot get 15" Naval Gunfire support from HMS Warspite.
